Tamara Trejo recently posted a wonderful blog about her experiences at Stillheart during our International Women’s Day Celebration. She included a description by her friend Mary Baxter, who also participated:
“It was beautiful to experience a guided meditation in the Great Room with gorgeous chandeliers of hand blown glass overhead, commemorating the love of the artist and his deceased wife who had visited him there the night he had slept in the room and inspired these works of art. We as women were reminded of the need for the feminine to come forward in the Earth’s energy at this time in history, not to supplant the masculine energy that has dominated the last millennia, but to balance it, to combine the energies of the pink flame of the feminine with the blue flame of the masculine, bringing into awareness the violet flame, the energy that will move our Earth away from polarity, war, and dominance into a time of great love, cooperation, and a unity that honors all living beings. This year at the 2nd World Conference of Women’s Shelters, there was no shortage of energy and enthusiasm, and certainly no shortage of women. Representing 96 countries, 1,600 individuals participated in workshops and interactive discussion sessions in an epic networking event, hosted by the National Network for Ending Domestic Violence at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in Washington D.C.
The conference included an impressive list of speakers and presenters, attendees and special guests. All types of royalty, from HRH Princess Mary of Denmark to Reese Witherspoon, and even former U.S. President, Bill Clinton, made speeches and added to the collective spirit of the crowd with messages of support, unity and hopes for a brighter future. Survivors and advocates alike came together for this special 4-day conference to meet fellow advocates and to speak about a global human rights issue — violence against women. Despite the diversity of backgrounds, the women (and a handful of brave men) were united by a singular purpose: to live in a world devoid of gender-based violence. Read the rest of this entry »
Last October, I took an incredible trip to China to introduce Stillheart Institute and my book, The Goddess of Happiness, which was translated into simple Mandarin. Since it was my first time in China, and I was excited to explore, experience, and learn about the commonalities between our two cultures. In addition to my excursion to the Great Wall (pictured above), I managed to squeeze in eight presentations in eleven days in four cities including Beijing and Shanghai. I spoke to diverse audiences—university students, government officials, women entrepreneurs, corporate leaders and UNICEF. Read the rest of this entry »
