Happiness, Compassion, and Peace in 2012!

Two years ago at the time between midnight on December 31, 2009 and 12:01 am January 1, 2010 Stillheart was acknowledged, honored and christened. It was a slit in time where we perceive nothing, the time between an exhalation and an inhalation, that very still time that occurs over and over, yet a time that is missed by most of humanity. This faint place between is why Stillheart was built. A place of stillness for transformation to occur.

Twelve years ago I was guided to build Stillheart, a retreat center for the transformation of humanity. It took ten years for Stillheart to settle into her present physical structure. Many people, forest devas, ascended masters, and elemental beings worked together to create her physical and energetic form. During this transformational time I learned about love and compassion beginning with self-compassion. Love and compassion are the hallmarks of Stillheart. However, when we stay busy and fearful, we miss these states. Read the rest of this entry »

Why I Founded Stillheart

Joan Porter, Founder of Stillheart Institute, describes how she was guided to start Stillheart Institute through meditation.

The Feng Shui of Stillheart

American Feng Shui Master—Denise ‘DeDe’ Dennis—incorporated Classical Feng Shui principles in every part of Stillheart’s redesign and renovation.  Having learned the secrets of Feng Shui from a grandmaster in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Denise brought an ancient technology to Stillheart that was little known in the United States. While Western Feng Shui is widely practiced, Classical Feng Shui is not.  Founder and president, Joan Porter, chose authentic Feng Shui to realign the energy of the site for optimum guest enjoyment and business success.    Inordinately beautiful, Stillheart only needed to be brought to life, and Feng Shui captured its essence. Personal retreats: let your heart guide you

It was thirty years ago that a friend suggested I take a personal retreat for 24 hours. He saw that I was overwhelmed as a single mom, a part-time bookkeeper and a student in the midst of finals.  I was numb, and I needed to step away from my day-to-day life by giving my spiritual, mental, emotional and physical bodies a rest. Stillheart Perspectives: Project Peanut Butter

Joan Porter is the Founder and President of Stillheart Institute.
“Saving Futures. Saving Lives. The Story Of Project Peanut Butter.” Narrated By Allison Janney.
nun For Christmas my husband surprised me with a beautiful poster-sized photograph of a Tibetan nun. The nun is from a family of eleven children and walked across the mountains from Lhasa, Tibet to India for safety. The photo captures her in prayer in her little hut not far from the temple of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

I was so struck by the photograph that I called the photographer, Jeff Davis of the Lumen Production Co., to learn more about the nun. In our conversation he told me that he did a documentary about Project Peanut Butter. After our telephone conversation, I googled Project Peanut Butter and watched the video. I was in tears. The work that is being done to feed malnourished children touched my heart very deeply. Please make time to watch this short documentary. It will engender gratitude within you for the love that is nourishing the world through actions like Project Peanut Butter. www.projectpeanutbutter.org
